The weather was chilly, I wore pants and a hoody most of the trip. This might seem odd for early July but the biggest lake in the world follows its own weather patterns. We didn't get a heat wave but we also didnt get a flash blizzard, so I see it as a win.
The forests are dense here. The nights leave an a thick umbra in the heart of the woods. Some have reported mystical sightings of faries, gnomes and even bigfoot. But that was the least of my worries, and not black bear either. I'm talking about moose. My biggest worry is moose. But I still have yet to see one, so that's good.
The lake will call me back for a camping trip. I want to day hike the North Country trail and then enjoy the views of the lake at night. The Porcupine Mountains State Park is the perfect place to set up base camp. I liked Lake of the Clouds but the highlight was Presque Isle. The waterfalls here are beautiful. I would love to rent a campsite near the falls with a trail leading down to the lake.
Regardless, the lake calls me. I will be back again to stare upon her crisp blue waters.
